Mainamati War Cemetery (Mainamati War Cemetery) is basically the burial ground of Indian (then) and British soldiers who died in World War II (1939-1945). It was built in 1943-1944. This war grave is located very close to Comilla Cantonment, about 7 km from Comilla city. The cemetery was established and managed by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission (CWGC). An annual prayer meet is held here every year in the month of November, consisting of clerics of all religions.

Mainamati, though a small village at that time, turned into a major army base. A big hospital was established here. Comilla was also a munitions supply area, an air base, and the headquarters of the Fourteenth Army before its transfer to Imphal in 1944.

This cemetery has 736 graves. Most of these are dead soldiers from the hospital at that time. Moreover, after the war, some bodies were transferred from different places and buried here. According to the forces, this includes 3 sailors, 567 soldiers and 166 airmen. A total of 723 victims were identified.

At the entrance to the mausoleum is a toran house, on the inner wall of which there is a wall plaque with the history and details of the mausoleum in English and Bengali. Inside is a wide path straight ahead, flanked by rows of tombstones. According to the religion of the soldiers, their name, date of death, designation as well as religious symbols can be observed on the gravestones - the cross on the Christian gravestone, the Arabic inscription on the Muslim gravestone (eg: Hual Ghafoor) is notable.

Straight ahead along the aisle is the stepped altar, topped by the Christian holy symbol of the cross. There are two more arcades on either side of the altar. These arcades lead to the rear part of the tomb. There are also many more tombstones. A flower plant adorns the center of every two tombstones. Besides, there are many trees in the entire cemetery. There is an exceptional grave next to the broad path at the front of the cemetery, where 23 tombstones together enclose a space. The site was originally a mass grave of 23 airmen, with inscriptions.
